A Special Occasion
How do you define, special occasion? And how could an outsider tell that you are preparing for a special occasion? Do you dress differently? Wear fine jewelry or make-up? These are just a few of the uncertainties our call center jewelry consultants face on a daily basis when advising our customers and fulfilling all of their jewelry and style needs. “One of the most challenging feats for my jewelry consultants in the call center is to intrinsically understand what constitutes a ‘special’ occasion and how exactly that translates into a jewelry style for a particular customer”, says Joseph D., Encore DT’s Director of Call Center Operations. “Every person has different parameters they evaluate an occasion by, and not only do people differ based on what they consider ‘special’, there are vast differences in how this translates into the fine jewelry they wear. “In Italia we consider every birthday and anniversary special, so you always try to look your best”, says Bonomi U., Encore DT’s Director of Production in Via Ca’, Italy. “This also means your best fine jewelry and most expensive diamonds”, he adds.
The above pictured Italian flower bezel setting diamond ring really forces one to consider the benchmark for distinguishing a piece of fine jewelry meant for a “special” occasion versus an ordinary day. “From a design standpoint, this is the finest and most expensive ring from our diamond jewelry collection for me to produce”, says Boris E., Encore DT’s President of Global Sourcing. “We actually customize the center bezel to accomodate the 1/3 carat main center diamond plus an additional eight four-prong settings in the periphery for eight 1/8 carat diamonds to complete the flower. It is truly a custom piece of jewelry and the price reflects that”. “Most of our customers would wear this Italian diamond ring only on a special occasion”, says Nikki L., Encore DT’s Jewelry & Fashion Consultant in the call center. But why? Is it strictly due to price or are there other factors? Nikki adds, “For some it’s because of price and others just dislike the feeling of being ‘overdressed’ and drawing excessive attention at dinner or at the office, but I would say that price is the biggest factor in this particular case. For most of our customers, a precious diamond ring like this calls for an event of a similar caliber”.
A Magnificent Jewelry Alternative
Next we examine a beautiful pair of silver studs with half-carat pink cz stones. “We recently had to increase production of these studs”, says Michael A., Encore DT’s President of Operations. “In fact we learned that plenty of our customers wear these studs on daily outings and special occasions alike”, he adds. “A pair of studs like this works well with so many outfits that it truly becomes universal and an essential part of any woman’s jewelry collection”, says Laura O., Encore DT’s Director of Production in Valenza, Italy. Can you think of a few outfits these earrings would look great with? One of our customers, who requested to remain anonymous, put it this way – “I bought your Italian flower diamond ring, the most beautiful within your fine jewelry collection, because with it I received an exotic piece of Italy. I wear it sparingly and certainly not to the office, but I do occasionally put it on for meetings with select clients. For lighter outings I generally stick to a less exotic pair of cubic zirconia studs or drop earrings. The bottom line for me is to always remind myself of the importance of constantly investing in my image. What I wear and how I present myself are a direct reflection of me, my company and ultimately my end of year revenue”.
Did Somebody Mention, “Classy”?
In presenting our next piece, a white cubic zirconia sterling silver necklace, we pose the following question – what is universality in the context of fine jewelry? Is it a piece of jewelry that invariably works with most of your favorite outfits? Or is it a piece that can be compatible with events of a different caliber? Our answer is, a little bit of each of those. “We consider this classy sterling silver cz necklace one of the most universal we carry in our inventory, says Michael A., Encore DT’s President of Operations. “I have personally seen women rock this necklace with white dresses, black dresses and even a yellow dress”, he insists. “In the end, universality in the context of fine jewelry means having options that allow you to put your mind at ease and know that you are wearing something that truly embellishes your look and image”, says Boris E., Encore DT’s President of Global Sourcing. “When attending an event or going about your everyday activities, it sure feels great to know that you have jewelry in your collection that will come to your rescue at a fancy outing and an ordinary lunch with a co-worker alike”.
