Is Two Tone Too Much Tone?

With an ever increasing demand for unique engagement rings and exclusivity of the engagement ring design, experimentation is at an all time high. Engagement ring designers are taking cheap engagement rings and converting them into unique engagement rings and vise versa. Designers are taking diamond engagement rings and converting them to non diamond engagement rings, and some specifically into engagement rings under 100 dollars. This engagement ring trend is heating up more with each coming hear, and one of the most profound trends we have observed is the increase of production of two tone engagement rings. Two tone engagement may include white gold and pink (rose) gold, white gold and yellow gold, sterling silver and yellow gold, as well as several less popular combinations. Have you ever wondered whether a two tone engagement ring is right for you? In this issue of DT Era we review a number of two tone engagement ring designs to help you make that determination.

We start with a comparison of an Italian solitaire diamond engagement ring design, demonstrating both versions – the white gold shank and the white gold with pink gold shank. The fact is that different people see two tone engagement rings differently. For some, the additional pink gold is a value ad – an extra layer of class and sophistication. For others, the additional rose gold in the engagement ring shank is a distraction. Those who see the pink gold as a distraction are also split – some consider the two tone engagement ring a good distraction, while other see the distraction as a negative component. Looking at these single tone and two tone engagement rings, which category do you fall in?

Next we examine two versions of an Italian side stone diamond engagement ring – the white gold shank and the white gold with pink gold shank. With this engagement ring, due to the presence of round side diamonds and the prongs, which secure them in place, both the shank and the prongs on that half are produced in rose gold. Two of the prongs holding the round brilliant cut center diamond are produced in pink gold as well, adding a fresh variation to the design. Which of these side stone engagement rings do you like best, the white gold or the two tone white gold with rose gold?

Finally we present two non diamond engagement rings, one with a shank in silver tone and the other with a white gold and yellow gold bonded crystal alloy. As you can see, these two non diamond engagement rings are not exactly the same, but they are indeed comparable designs. The silver tone non diamond engagement ring offers an incredibly elegant halo with clear cz stones. The two tone non diamond engagement ring uses yellow gold bonded crystal alloy and yellow cz stones, to highlight the large center cz stone of the halo. Which of these non diamond engagement rings appeals more to you?

In summary, although two tone engagement rings have skyrocketed in popularity, they are not always the right fit aesthetically. As you progress in your search for the right engagement ring, expose yourself to different variations and find the right one for you. Always remember to see at lease 15-20 two tone and 15-20 single tone engagement rings before arriving at a conclusion. Doing so will help ensure that if you, for example, decide not to go with a two tone engagement ring, it is because you in fact do not like two tone engagement rings, rather than because you did jot like the particular 1-2 two tone engagement rings you came across.
