A Black Diamond Wedding Ring Story
With the 2013 summer wedding season now over, in this issue of DT Era we are bringing you some of this season’s most remarkable stories of proposals, wedding planning last-minute saves, anniversary extravaganzas, favors and wedding rings in general. If you find yourself thinking, “My wedding anniversary is coming up. I want!”, you are probably not alone. “There was something unique about this summer in particular”, says Joseph D., Encore DT’s Director of Call Center Operations. “Last year our customers’ purchases of wedding rings were relatively modest and, outside of some customized wedding ring orders from Italy, we really didn’t experience any other major extravaganzas”.
“It was Monday morning when I received an urgent phone call from the call center, asking about a black diamond wedding ring with 9 black diamonds in a channel setting totaling half a carat”, says Boris E., our President of Global Sourcing at Encore DT. “You just don’t say ‘no’ to a man who knows exactly which one of the black diamond wedding rings he wants to buy. The width of a wedding ring he had in mind was too thin to accommodate a line of 9 black diamonds equaling up to 0.5CT. However, I told the call center to give me 24 hours and I would find a way to accommodate”. With some creative work by our production team in Italy, approximately three weeks later, the custom Italian wedding ring with a row of black diamonds was delivered to the customer’s door. “It was a team effort”, says Michael A., Encore DT’s President of Operations, “and we relied on our production team just as much as we relied on our diamond suppliers to come up with 9 high quality black diamonds within two business days of our inquiry”.
As it turns out, the customer was planning to give this ring to his future wife in Rome in early August, as he was taking his hopefully now spouse on a two-week journey across the Adriatic Sea and eventually to Rome, Genoa, Paris and finally Madrid. When asked specifically where he planned to make a gift, he mentioned that he will most likely do that at the Colosseum at sunset, but is also considering Venice. We wish him and his lucky fiance well and hope that the beautiful wedding ring he chose will make them smile for years to come.
Wedding Gifts & A Jaw-Dropping Phone Call
Our next story involves a wedding gift that will take some of our team members a long time to forget. “It was a relatively uneventful afternoon”, says Joseph D., Encore DT’s Director of Call Center Operations, “when we received a call from a gentleman in Hampton, Virginia. What he said next baffled even one of my most experienced jewelry & fashion consultants in our call center. ‘My girl’s getting married next month and I want the best ***** you got for two grand or less’. He sounded like a member of our military and we were not about to get on his bad side”. This lucky dad was looking for a pair of diamond earrings or a necklace to give to his daughter as a special wedding gift. Our team presented him with several options, but in the end he chose our beautiful Cerchio Della Passione 18K Gold Diamond Necklace. “It’s unique”, he said, “and I doubt she’s ever seen another one like it. I know I haven’t”. Approximately three weeks later the necklace was delivered to his door. His daughter should already be a Mrs., and we wish her and her family all the best.
Wedding Favors – A Last Minute Save
For some parents who thought that their wedding or anniversary day was the most stressful day of their lives, their opinions often change as their children start getting married. And no one felt the pressure more than Sarah A. from Chicago, IL. “This was definitely one of the most frantic calls a jewelry company can receive”, says Michael A., Encore DT’s President of Operations. “Sarah was panicking because her daughter was getting married in three weeks and the wedding gifts company where she custom-ordered 50 silver necklaces informed her that their supplier is having some sort of issue so they can’t deliver. ‘What can you recommend? I’m in a dire hurry’, she said”. Our call center representative asked, “Do you have the names of all 50 female guests handy?
If so, we have white gold plated letter initial pendants that would work great as wedding favors and as wedding gifts in general”. Sarah’s response was astonishing. “Oh my God, I didn’t even think of that!” Within minutes we had a spreadsheet of the female guest attendees, so we put together an order of 47 pendants based on the first initial of each guest and they were delivered three business days later. This order marked another success in Encore DT’s efforts to bring happiness to brides, grooms, parents and guests at weddings, even when it looks as though defeat has the upper hand.
Final Thoughts – Saying Goodbye
We end this issue of DT Era with one final thought – what are we doing to live our lives to the fullest, especially on extraordinary occasions such as weddings and anniversaries? “Sometimes I have to remind Joseph and our call center to bring this topic up to our customers, just as much as I often remind our designers to let ideas culminate in their minds before submitting their work”, says Boris E., our President of Global Sourcing.
